Facility Types
Executive Summary
Facility Types is the setup screen where administrators maintain the list of facility types used when facilities are created (for example a day centre or a delivery route). A type can be flagged as a route, and a type can be a parent that groups child types, so that a parent facility can hold child facilities of a given type with their own label. Types that the system owns (internal types) are listed for reference but cannot be edited or deleted.
Key Features
- List all facility types with their parent, route, and internal flags and how many facilities use each type
- Add a new facility type, optionally marking it as a parent or a route
- For a parent type, choose an existing child type or create a new child type on the spot, and set the label used for the children
- Edit a type; once facilities use it, its name, flags, and child type are locked
- Delete a type that is not in use and is not a child of another type
- Work from the toolbar, the row buttons, or the right-click menu
Typical Workflow
- Click Add.
- Enter the Type name.
- Tick Is Parent if facilities of this type will contain child facilities, or Is Route if it represents a route. (These tick boxes are not shown for a type that is already the child of another type.)
- For a parent, enter the Child Label and either select Select Existing Child Type and pick one, or select Create New Child Type, enter the Child Type name, and tick Is Route if the new child type is a route.
- Click Save.
- To change a type later, click the edit icon on its row (or right-click the row and choose Edit). To remove an unused type, click the delete icon and confirm.
